This class explores a wide range of textile materials and processes including creative stitching, dyeing and fabric manipulation. Traditional techniques are taught as a fundamental basis for developing work of a more contemporary nature.

The class developed some years ago from a desire by some members of the patchwork and quilting classes who felt the need to ‘break free’. Although the group has moved on into new areas of work, some original students still attend - we work very much as a group. New students have joined us and a warm welcome awaits anyone who wants to experiment with some innovative approaches to textile art.

The Group meets usually for one day or a short course to experiment and explore a given theme which is taken up by each individual and developed in their own way.  Members of the group work on their projects in their own time or join one of the Textile Classes for encouragement and inspiration from the tutor.  Extensive resources of materials, equipment, books and visual aids are available to all students in spacious premises - see Patchwork& Quilting.

City & Guilds courses are available at all levels of Creative Embroidery.
